Another year, a huge future ahead

Christmas decorations and cards with beautiful snow filled fields, reindeer and log fires always seem ironic for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere but the beauty of our own environment in the Paterson Valley somehow feels just as special. Especially when you are surrounded by a farm like Torryburn.

What a year it's been! From a 100% clearance rate at the Inglis Mare and Weanling Sale, to the establishment of our new farm and some great new clients and their horses. We now also have some fantastic and very promising young stock in work with trainers in NSW, Victoria and Queensland and we think 2017 will be a very exciting time for the racehorses produced in the last few years at Torryburn.

Our Magic Millions yearlings are already looking a picture and we this week received a visit from the Magic Millions team and several notable buyers travelling from all states of Australia to take a first look at our draft. There is a real sense of pride in how these horses are shaping up and we are really looking forward to getting to Queensland next month. We encourage anyone interested in inspecting our draft to do so either here at the farm or once on the Gold Coast sales complex.

The highlight of our year has been the completion of the new spelling farm. We have also undertaken several changes in direction and the benefits of this are becoming obvious – most importantly, the horses have never looked better. We are confident that Torryburn Stud has entered a new era and we are excited to be able to offer the opportunity for trainers and owners to spell racehorses and agist broodmares and foals in what we feel is now one of the safest and most professional boutique farms in Australia.

We have had a wonderful year and wish to thank our extended horse management team consisting of vets Paddy Todhunter, Kristen Todhunter, Cecilia Cortina di Favria, Hanna Hopkins and Morgan Webber as well as Natalie Edwards and the team at Newcastle Equine Centre. Thanks also to our farrier Cade Sinclair for his continued effort in keeping our horses feet in order and Ross Edwards for his foal handling prowess.

Wishing everyone the best for the Festive Season. Most importantly, thank you to our clients new and old who continue to support us year after year and the horses that try their hardest for us every day.
