Dixie & Dreaming Quinella the Coolmore
Two Torryburn born and raised mares carrying the heart on their shoulder crossed the line for first and second placing last weekend in the 2019 Coolmore Classic. It's been a long wait for owner Alan Osburg who trusted trainer Ron Quinton in his belief that Dixie Blossoms had a Group One win in her. Dixie had knocked at the door so many times and was very close to retiring to stud after her seventh placing in the G3 Craven Plate last Spring but there was never any doubt in the mind of Quinton who put in a dazzling training performance to once again claim the race all mare owners love to win.
Following in her wake was the outstanding performer El Dorado Dreaming who continues to fly the flag for her sire Ilovethiscity. Three years Dixie Blossom's junior, El Dorado Dreaming has nothing to prove, already a Group 1 winner having claimed the 2018 G1 Sires Produce Stakes for owner Yvette Pearce. Trainer Kris Lees has kept her in top form having taken over her training later in 2018 and she has since placed six times in Group company.
Both horses still frequent the farm and enjoy their breaks between racing in our spelling paddocks and while El Dorado Dreaming may continue chasing the dream for her connections, perhaps we will see some baby blossoms for Dixie in the Spring of 2020.
