Hot King Prawn Sizzles in HK

With a ninth Hong Kong trainers premiership looming on the horizon for John Size, Torryburn Stud born and raised 2 year old Hot King Prawn looks to be an exciting contributor to the trainers list of wins and has all the qualities to become a pin up boy on the Hong Kong racing scene.

Sold at the 2016 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, the Denman colt was knocked down Aquanita Racing and trainer Robert Smerdon was responsible for the breaking-in and early fitness work before a transfer to Sizes's Hong Kong operation. Size has been impressed by his intelligence and his ability to adapt quickly to his new surroundings.

Punters sat up and paid attention on 25 April when Hot King Prawn smashed his rivals at his first barrier trial. Ridden by Joao Moreira, the colt was under no pressure to win by several lengths and was never in any doubt to debut as firm favourite at his Griffin start three weeks later at Sha Tin and again led all the way under hands and heels riding by Zac Purton.

Another Torryburn grey to keep an eye on! Congratulations to owner Lau Sak Hong on the purchase of one exciting young horse.
