Metro Double of Torryburn Winners
April 26 – Torryburn Stud sold winners featured at Flemington and Ascot on Saturday with victories for improving filly Face Forward and recent stakes-winner Tower of Lonhro.
The first race at Flemington was won in commanding style by three year-old Charge Forward filly Face Forward, a $105,000 Magic Millions purchase for First Light Racing from the draft of Torryburn Stud.
Prepared by Matt Ellerton and Simon Zahra, Face Forward bolted away to win the 1000 metre scamper by three lengths and has won three of six starts earning over $80,000 in prizemoney.
Bred and offered for sale by Torryburn Stud, she is the second winner for metro winning Danehill (USA) mare Endearment, who has a High Chaparral (IRE) weanling filly and was covered last year by Mossman.
Winner of the Listed WATC Grandstand Cup last month, the Adam Durrant trained Tower of Lonhro added another win to his tally when saluting at Ascot on Saturday over 1800 metres.
Tower of Lonhro has the overall record now 11 wins and six placings from 30 starts with prizemoney nearing $340,000.
A six year-old gelding by Lonhro, Tower of Lonhro was bred and sold by Torryburn Stud at the Inglis Australian Select Weanling Sale in 2009 for $42,500 and is a half-brother to Group III winner Under the Eiffel from stakes-placed Danehill (USA) mare Spire.
Spire has a yearling filly and weanling colt by So You Think and was covered again by the 10-time Group I winner last spring.
