Stakes Win for Tower of Lonhro
Perth, March 21 - Bred by Torryburn Stud, six year-old Lonhro gelding Tower of Lonhro snared his first Black Type win on Saturday in Perth when scoring a strong finishing win in the Listed WATC Grandstand Cup.
Tower of Lonhro has been racing consistently in the West since transferring across from Victoria in 2013 and was turned out fit and ready to fire by his trainer Adam Durrant at his third run back from a spell.
Tower of Lonhro overcame the outside drawn in a field of 10 to win the 1500 metre contest by half a length, his overall record now 10 wins and five placings from 27 starts with prizemoney nearing $280,000.
Tower of Lonhro was sold by Torryburn Stud at the Inglis Australian Select Weanling Sale in 2009 for $42,500 and is a half-brother to Group III winner Under the Eiffel from stakes-placed Danehill (USA) mare Spire.
Spire has a yearling filly and colt foal by So You Think and was covered again by the 10-time Group I winner last spring.
Torryburn Stud will present a select draft of eight at the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, click here to see the draft.
